Stage 4 anal cancer left radiation neuritis of sciatic nerve, now in pain?

I am a 54 yr old who had stage 4 anal cancer the aggressive tx (treatment) of radiation and chemo saved my life but left me with radiation neuritis of my sciatic nerve causing pain in buttocks and at first my r leg now I had to have my r hip replaced twice within 2 wks this past July due to spontaneous fx. I have been dealing with this pain since may of 1999 (I began tx sept1998) my Dr had been treating monthly for this pain…now he is returning home to lebanon after treating me for 18+ yrs. He had told his replacement to to send me to a pain clinic I went back to the doctor last Monday he did neither he did not write pain meds or refer me to a new pain doctor… (what do you recommend?)

  1. If you are my patient after all what you have gone through I would definitely advice you to go directly to physiotherapy.. A professional physiotherapist will do some modalities to relief your pain gradually and strength your weakened hip muscles.. All modalities will be safe without causing any increase in possibility of Cancer.

  2. I recommend lyrica 75 + vitamin b12 intramuscular injection
Also try physical therapy as i suspect pirifirmis syndrome

    Good Luck

  3. hi,
this is a expected complication in cancer patients.
though the pain is considerable,it will be relieved by taking physiotherapy, laser treatment.
methycobalamin and pregabalin tablets will be helpful.
    thanks

  4. HI
NEURITIS CAN LEAD TO NERVE SPASM LEADING TO PAIN.
LEG TRACTION,STRETCHING EXERCISES,SWD AND HOT FOMENTATION WILL HELP.
LOCAL STEROID INJECTION CAN BE TAKEN FOR FIBROMYOSITIS PAIN.

  5. hello there
neuritis with fibrosis also seems to be the cause of pain.
while sciatica can be managed by aggressive physiotherapy, muscle relaxants and laser treatment can also have beneficial effects
