Stabbing feeling in upper buttock, is it Sciatica?

Im a 32yr old white male. Very active and fit. I take no medications and am in overall great health. About a week ago I got a sensation in my left upper but that felt like someone stabbed me with a needle . Lasted about 15 sec and went away. It has happened randomly now for the last week. Very isolated and intense pain. No more than. About 15 sec. No other pain what so ever. Happens when standing sitting driving laying down. Can’t ” make” it happen. Sciatica?

  1. hi
this can be early sciatica or a pinched nerve in lower lumbar spine. an mri of lumbar spine is indicated to make a diagnosis. local hot fomentation and gel application can be tried if pain is more.
    thanks

  2. HI
DOESNT SEEM TO BE SCIATICA. THE SCIATICA PAIN HAS TO RADIATE DOWN THE WHOLE LEG ASSOCIATED WITH TINGLING NUMBNESS AT TIMES. THIS MAY BE A LOWER BACK STRAIN. TRY TAKING MUSCLE RELAXANTS AND LOCAL ANALGESIC OINTMENTS

  3. hello there
it is a compressed nerve in the back or may be a muscle spasm locally. get a ultrasound of that affected area. if the pain doesnt go away by medicines, then a local steroid shot will help.
do get a consultation from a orthopedician

  4. If you have a recent history of carrying heavy object or bending wrongly …you will need an MRI..
If not then it might be a piriformis syndrome…
Check Google for piriformis stretching model and do it.it will not cause any harm..
Use hot packs on your lower back and buttocks..
