Need dental work done?

Need dental work done. I’m diabetic and I’m 80 yrs old. I want to be put to sleep to have work done. Is this safe to do? Have a really bad tooth that has been hurting. It is really not easy eating. The rest of my feet are bad too. I am really afraid of dentists.

Age: 80
Female
Medications: Diabetic meds

  1. In my opinion you should avoid general anesthesia if possible. Both your age and your condition can produce complications. Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) can be a complication considering your age as well as other complications due to diabetes. If general anesthesia is needed – make sure a physician/anesthesiologist with both diabetes and senior patient experience is involved.
