My sister snorted meth, voice now hoarse, mucus in throat, is it tonsils?
Hello, my sister used to snort crystal meth and won’t go to the doctor because she’s scared of getting in trouble for it…but I told her that she’d be fine since she has quit snorting meth…anyways, she’s always having to clear her throat of mucus and her voice keeps getting hoarse until she clears her throat. She’s been getting tonsil stones and has the constantly feeling of something stuck in her throat and has pressure under her tongue…does she need her tonsils removed? What is going on?
This is Probably a side effect of snorting meth, she May have throat inflamed and it would be tonsillitis also… this can be detected also by palpating the neck as the lymph nodes gets enlarged in response to inflammation of tonsils…
ask her to garglewith salt and water, tea with lemon and if there is inflammation of tonsils which you can also see from the mouth by openeing the mouth and pressing the tongue by a tongue depressor using a light source see if it is inflamed …
in this case give an antibiotic like augmentin once every 12 hours.
YES.IT SEEMS TO BE CHRONIC TONSILLITIS DUE TO SIDE EFFECTS OF EARLIER SONRTING METH.
SHE NEEDS TO SEE A ENT SPECIALUST FOR SURE TO AVOID FUTURE COMPLICATIONS
she may have recurrent tonsillitis and low immunity that may be causing these symptoms. hot saline water gargles with a short course of antibiotics should help. avoid spicy foods. get her examined from a doctor to see any throat abnormalities.
it is due to posterior pharyngeal lymphadenitis. doesnt feel that it is tonsills. a detailed oropharyngeal examination is needed from an ent consultant. starting antibiotics will help.. saline mouth gargles should be done daily
