My mom has been coughing several times each day for the past 9 months, sometimes she spits clear mucous and vomits?
My mom is 58 years old, she has been coughing several times each day for the past 9 months, sometimes she spits clear mucous after coughing ano in the last two days she is following the mucous with a vomit (while she’s vomiting she feel like that there are spike or needles being injected in all of her chest) and when she coughs hard she kind of having a little bit of a pee. One doctor checked her nose and said that she has an allergy, he prescribed her a nasal spray (she used it, but it didn’t change anything).
She also has an a skin allergy that doctors don’t know what causes it (they made an allergy test at hospital and it showed that she has no skin allergy at all), a point to mention, she gets that allergy often by sudden and sometimes when she gets very nervous or scared or angry.
She says that the cough is exhausting her so much.
Sometimes her heart beats hard suddenly for a while
Now the question is: what is the reason of the cough and how could she cure
Note: when she was 28 she had an allergy from chokes she used to cough hard back then when she used the board chokes. She cured from it by the help of the doctor (she doesn’t remember how) (she is an a retired teacher since 2 years ago) ..
She takes both ramipril 5mg and amlodipine for high blood pressure
She takes Aerius for skin allregy (and it works)
She takes simvaxon 10mg for cholesterol
In my opinin she has allergy to milk
So i suggest she stops milk yogurt cheese for a week , and see if cough stops
any cough beyond 3 months needs detailed evaluation.
A chronic chest infection seems to be the underlying cause.
get a chest Xray – PA view and blood investigations done.
BRONCHIECTASIS OR LUNG CONSOLIDATION MAY LEAD TO SUCH LONG STANDING COUGH.
A HRCT CHEST CAN BE DONE ALONG WITH SPUTUM EXAMINATION.
CONSULT A CHEST PHYSICIAN.
For me I think this is a chronic bronchitis problem and she is allergic to many things could be fiid and other inhaled substances..she must avoid all types of irritants …cats ,dogs, dust, sprays etc…
Make a food list of what she eats daily and what is commonly causing the cough after.
Avoid dry air and let her drink plenty of water…warm drinks.
,ginger helps .
She also has mild urinary incontinence or pelvic floor muscle weakness.
Kegel exercises are great for her.
she needs to get her sputum checked.
upper GI endoscopy will rule out associated GERD.
HRCT chest will find out small foci of chronic infection
