My knees hurt after exercising I can hear there are small sounds coming from my knee, and they feel wobbly?
Would like to first thank you for your time in reading my situation, i really do appreciate it.
I’ve been playing basketball for quite a long time, and my weight was considered average. But there’s been a time where I’ve been struck by depression , which developed into binge eating. I’ve then gotten overweight and had a hard time losing weight.
I still play basketball, but not only my weight has not gone down, my knees do hurt after exercising especially when going up the stairs. When I do squats , I can hear there are small sounds coming from my knee, and they feel wobbly as well. This has then hindered me from trying to run or play basketball.
Doctor I’d like to ask if there’s any way to improve my condition to the point that I can get back into playing basketball? If yes, may I ask how ?
Would be glad to hear from you soon.
Your case is common among my sports injury patients who have similar circumstances.
You have mostly developed chondromalacia patella and a degree of meniscial degeneration .
Strengthening your quadriceps is a key of treatment.
Stretching hamstring and iliotibial band .
Kinesiotaping will be magic for you.
As well as losing weight.
Ultra sound and laser therapy with a physiotherapist.
Avoid squatting below 90 ° flexion .I hope this helps you..
First things first pain and cracking sounds in knee with rotation and knee bending are signs of meniscal injury
The time u had the depression you quit basketball , you came back thinking you had the same fitness and started hurting your knee
Honestly i recommend doing a knee MRI to check me meniscus condition then you should do physical therapy including streching of posterior knee compartement and strengthening vastas medialis ( last 5-15 degree extention )
You problem is mainly knee failure to do lock mechanism correctly
i feel that you are suffering from cartilage and meniscal degeneration that usually occurs in overweight people.
playing basket ball is infact good for health but you need to lose all the added body weight before that.
avoid junk food, sugar diet ,non veg and rice.
eat more of salads and fruits.
knee exercises and compression bandages will be helpful
CLEARLY THIS INDICATES OVERWEIGHT SIDE EFFECTS OVER THE KNEE.
THE CARTILAGES INSIDE THE KNEE SEEMS TO BE UNDERGOING DEGENERATIVE CHANGES.
THIS CAN BE CONFIRMED BY DOING A MRI OF KNEE.
WEIGHT REDUCTION WITH TABLETS LIKE CHONDROITIN SULFATE,DIACERIN WILL HELP
small sounds coming from the knee may indicate ligament ,especially meniscal disease.
chondromalaciae patellae also should be kept in mind.
consult orthopedist and get arthoscopy done.
