My kid was diagnosed with Hand Foot and Mouth Disease by one doc and chicken pox by another?

My 4 years kid had a fever for one day and half, and he felt tired.
Next day he had rash on neck nape, around mouth, just near his armpits from the back, arms, legs, knees, elbows, hands and palms, feet and soles, very small red dots on his mouth roof not blisters or ulcers.no rash on belly, neither on back,3 small dots on his chest.
One doctor diagnosed him as hfmd, the other diagnosed him chicken pox.
My question is, could hfmd appear on neck nape, around armpits?
Could chicken pox appear on palms and soles? Thanks.

  1. I would go with chicken box cuz hfmd usually goes away without treatment also hfmd does not show neck or trunk rash
And no chicken box does not rash on palms and soles
So u should consider other conditions as:
    Erythema multiforme
    Tinea
    Enteroviral infection
    Coxsackievirus
    Echovirus
    Rocky Mountain spotted fever
    Scabies
    Secondary syphilis

    Good Luck

  2. Mostly chicken pox as hfmd dies not affect all these areas…
    Chicken pox can..

  3. hi
seems to be a chicken pox variant. Hands foot mouth seems less likely.
    maintain adequate hydration.
    multivitamins will help speedy recovery.

  4. HI
HFMD DOES NOT PRESENT IN THIS FASHION. CHICKEN POX WILL BE MY DIAGNOSIS.
IT HAS A NATURAL COURSE AND WILL HEAL UP SPONTANEOUSLY. DRINKING PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND FRUIT JUICES WILL HELP YOU WELL HYDRATED.

  5. hello there
though seems more of viral infection, mostly chicken pox, still hfmd cannot be entirely ruled out as a clinical variant of hfmd can also present in similar fashion.
maintain good immunity and give anti pyretic medicines as and when required.
