My grandma hasn’t slept in 15 days, she has bronchitis?
I’m losing it here. My grandma hasn’t slept in 15 days!!!! Roughly a month ago she starting taking some joint pills which I believe led to her stomach acid coming up to her throat (I think). Anyway now she has a very irritated throat. According to the doctor’s, she has bronchitis. They gave her some medicine and that didn’t help. We went all over the place looking for medicine or looking for a cure but we can’t find one that works. Sometimes the medicine makes her condition worse! Nothing is working! Everytime she tries to fall asleep her irritation gets worse, whether she lies down and or sits up sleeping. We’ve taken her to the hospital 3 times and they refuse to do anything other then take tests and send her away!!!!!! The other day she said she was feeling very weak and we took her to the hospital and again they did absolutely nothing! They wouldn’t even help her sleep at all!
I’m very desperate right now. I don’t know what else to do. If anyone can give me answers or give me any advice on what to do I would very grateful. I am crying so much because she has to suffer like this and her lack of sleep could lead to the worst. Please help me!
i can understand ur concern.
she basically needs admission in the hospital and get a detailed invetigation profile done including complete blood count,HRCT chest, spirometry and sputum examination.
she can be given iv bronchodilators and sedatives for a better sleep.
consult a chest physician.
So sorry for your grandma, before proceeding with any treatment t she must be examined first, you should take her to a Gastroenterologist and get her an upper GI endoscopy done to explore the stomach and throat for abnormalities..
I want you to kindly answer these questions so I can help you
How old is she?
What other diseases she has?
Does she suffer any weight loss?
What tests were done to her?
Expecting your answer ..
In my opinion this is acid reflux
She needs to take nexium and rantidine
I see no reason to suspect bronchitis
Thanks for the query..
Well the symptoms seems to be more annoying due to Gastro-esophageal reflux disease or GERD and not Bronchitis..
However GERD when becomes severe can cause even Bronchitis or Asthma like symptoms..
In case if she is being treated for Bronchitis with antibiotics then it can further cause hyperacidity and worsen the condition..
I would therefore suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist first and get her thoroughly investigated for acid reflux and appropriate treatment like antacids and Proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole and H2 blocker like Ranitidine and sleeping with head raised compared to feet can help..
Hope this information helps..
