My father has hairy cell leukemia blood clots formed in belly, how to stop pain and clots?
My father is 53 years old, a month ago he saw some swelling and after two days he saw blood clots in his leg. he went to doctor, they said he diagnosed with superior venues thrombosis. then after further blood testing they fund out he has hairy cell leukemia. right now he is taking wafarin and enoxaprin sodium injection, but in his belly there is blood clots formed what he can do to stop the pain and clots? help us please.
In my opinion hairy cell leukemia cause bleeding which should normaly clot , instead of trying to avoid cloting you should try stop the bleeding ,
Belly pain could be from enlaged spleen
And why haven’t he started chemo , this type of leukemia can easly progress to other types of cancer
Sorry I was not of help
But plan of treatment does not seem enough
get a usg of abdomen / Ct abdomen with contrast.
he needs to get his bleeding time, clotting time checked for any variations in the normal levels.
depending upon these reports, warfarin doses can be adjusted.
DERANGEMENTS IN BLEEDING AND CLOTTING TENDENCIES SEEM TO HAVE OCCURED .
GET HIS PROTHROMBIN TIME AND INR DONE.
ADJUST THE DOSES OF MEDICINES THAT HE HAS BEEN TAKING (WARFARIN AND ENOXAPRIN)
LEUKEMIA NEEDS A MORE AGRESSIVE TREATMENT.
leukemia ,of any type needs chemotherapy.
only taking medicines will not be of help.
get BT,CT and PT checked.
consult a hematology specialist.
