Hi I am 30+ female.my genotype is AS and my boyfriend is also AS. I would like to know is there is a dominant or recessive part of the genotype and to find out how it can be harnessed so that we don’t have sickle-cell disease babies.

Hi
You baby have a 25% chance to develop sickle cell anemia (SS genotype) , no reason to worry because in the 16-18 week of pregnancy you can do Amniocentesis(test if your baby has it or not) to decide to continue with pregnancy or have an abortion
Good Luck
hi,
there are less chances of baby developing sickle cell disease but not impossible.
amniocentesis with genotyping and caryotyping during early pregnancy will help.
thanks
In all cases you have 1 of every 4babies can be sick with sickle cell anaemia so you should do amniocentesis test with every pregnancy to early detect Ill foetus so you can abort if you wish without complications ..
It is usually done at 4months of pregnancy..
Hi..
AS+AS genotype can cause 25% chance of producing an offspring with sickle cell anemia..
And it can be confirmed only after Amniocentasis procedure..
So it will be better to be positive and plan your child after consulting an Expert Gynaecologist..
Regards.
Amniocentesis is your only way to know, but still there is hazards for it , discuss this with gynacologist..
