Lost some hearing (at about 40%) in my left ear will this become permanent?
29 yr old female, lost some hearing (at about 40%) in my left ear during or shortly after cancer treatment at age 15. When I pop my ears by plugging my nose, it gets better but doesn’t last more than an hour or so. Usually less. Every doctor since that I’ve told says “oh that’s a Eustachian tube malfunction” but gives me NO other info. Recently read that over time this can become permanent. Is there ANY treatment options? Any idea what exactly I’m dealing with?

If it is infact Eustachian tube malfunction then Implanting pressure equalization tubes can be a solution or another option is drying Eustachian tubes by making a small hole in ear drum which will heal quickly

ET malfunction can be ttt by using a permanent tube , v v tiny tube is put inside to maintain the equilibrium bet inside and outside, it will be great, I think you should talk to an ENT specialist, until then use that valsulva manuver

there does not seem to be permanent damage to your ear drum or inner ear.
Conduction hearing appears to be intact.
The condition is definitely reversible.
You need to consult a ENT superspecialist who is trained in implants.
Connecting tubes will be of help.

The problem here is pressure difference ,while the eustachean malfunction can be treated using decongestants and antihistamine drugs but if you want a permanent solution ,then Implanting pressure equalization tubes (PETs) in your eardrums to maintain equal ear pressure can help much better..
