Just found out I have Hepatitis C? admin Posted on Posted in General, Infectiology, Medical Questions 5 Comments Tagged with Just found out I have Hepatitis C? I am 65 years, female. Just found out I have hepC, started taking Harvoni a month ago, and stage 4 cirrhosis. Will the fluid in my abdomen go away on its own or does it have to be drained out. Eating and drinking all liver friendly.
Wishing you a speedy recovery ..
Ascitis can be controlled normally with dietary control of sodium and diuretics if it does not respond or it is hindering breathing or cannot tolerate the above regimen, frequent therapeutic paracentesis (a needle carefully is placed into the abdominal area, under sterile conditions) can be performed to remove large amounts of fluid. A few liters (up to 4 to 5 liters) of fluid can be removed safely by this procedure each time..
The fluid needs to be drained if you are stage 4
I strongly advice following up with a doctor as what is the next step ( take it seriously)
Really sorry ,Good Luck
at this stage, less likely that the fluid will go away spontaneously.
better to get it drained.
you may need many settings of drainage till the fluid is completely gone.
IF IT WAS EARLIER STAGE,THEN RECOVERY CHANCES ARE MORE.
STAGE 4 IS LESS LIKELY TO BENEFIT BY ONLY MEDICINES.
ASICITC TAPPING IS A MUST
fluid drainage is essential at this stage.
if not done, the medicines will not have any beneficial effects.
drainage needs to be repeated depending upon the frequency of recurrence
