I’m currently having near-blackout episodes, please advise?

I’m a male to female gender fluid person. Biologically a male, I dress in female attire from time to time. I’m currently having near-blackout episodes directly linked to constrictive clothing. Specifically, I wear what amounts to a girdle with sew-in hip padding. It’s snug NOT tourniquet tight. I get a headache & a feeling like I’m not getting oxygen to my brain. It’s more than a little scary thinking I’m about to pass out. The issue has developed over the past 1.5 years or so. All history un-remarkable except high bp and I’m on low dose beta blocker. Checked my bp during events and its within normal range. Obviously haven’t done it lately except for brief times just to reconfirm its an ongoing issue.

Age: 59
Medications: Metoprolol Succinate (25mg every other day), Lamictal 225/day
General Information: Nope. Too embarrassing. I probably will depending on your answer.

  1. A near blackout is most often related to a reduction of blood circulation to the brain. Constrictive clothing that is only snug would not cause that. Do you have a history of epileptic seizures? If so you need to talk to your doctor about adjusting your medication. It could also be a side effect of Metoprolol. Succinate. Fainting or near fainting can also be the result of moments of intense stress or anxiety. If this is the case you need to bring your stress down during those moments. Hope this helps.

  2. Hi.
    Thanks for the query..

Well your symptoms can be due to a number of causes that can range from generalised weakness, nutritional deficiency, too much stress or anxiety, side effect of medicine etc..
So first consult a Physician and get a basic checkup done..
Further investigations can be advised accordingly..
