  1. Hi..
    Thanks for the query..

Iron deficiency anemia develops when body stores of iron drop too low to support normal red blood cell (RBC) production.

    Causes can be:
    – Inadequate dietary iron, impaired iron absorption, bleeding, or loss of body iron in the urine may be the cause.

If the levels are not increasing the underlying cause needs to be ruled out..

You should get the following investigations done.

    -Complete blood count.
    -Peripheral blood smear.
-Serum iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and serum ferritin.
-Evaluation for hemosiderinuria, hemoglobinuria, and pulmonary hemosiderosis.
-Hemoglobin electrophoresis and measurement of hemoglobin A 2 and fetal hemoglobin.
    -Reticulocyte hemoglobin content.

If the tests are already done please upload the reports..

Also as the levels are too low you should immediately consult a Haematologist and get evaluated..

    Hope this helps..

  2. Hi,
In my opinion you need to get tested for TIBC , s.ferritin .
Have you been taking b12 at the same time?
