i was taking a treatment MyFortic + Prednisone but the Platelets did not raise they are below 10,000 about 8200
i was told that i need a surgery to remove the spleen.
is it the 1st step to make it ? as i was reading i saw maybe it is a cause from vitamin C i did not do a vitamins blood test

is there any other ways or something to prevent the surgery

  1. If you don’t have signs of bleeding and your platelet count isn’t too low, you may not need any surgery and if there is no signs of internal bleeding is present then you can give medications a chance..
Otherwise surgery is strongly recommended if any bleeding risk is present..
    Thanks

  2. Hi
I recommend doing the surgery as soon as possible , you have high risk of sudden internal bleeding.
You are already on the right medications
Vitamin c affect behavior not count
    Good Luck

  3. hi,
the platelet counts are too low considering the normal range.
if you are getting recurrent episodes of platelet deficiency, then splenectomy (removal of spleen),either partial or total,is highly recommended.
vitamin C can cause these symptoms but less likely to be the only cause.
    thanks

  4. Splenectomy is a must, as it is breaking down your platelets…
