I have pain that radiates to my back and down my leg to the knee.Any ideas?

I am a 47 year old female that has an overall dull pain in the lower right abdomen almost at my C-section scar. Sporadically through the day it becomes sharp for a few seconds. The pain radiates to my back and down my leg to the knee. I have noticed that I feel full, bloated, and have more gas. My stools have been thick but very long. Any ideas?

  1. Hi and welcome to question doctors.com
Your pain and symptoms refers to may be IBS that needs to be ruled out or confirmed by abdominal USG…and a complete blood picture
But the pain in your back and leg is rarely due to these issues unless your bloating is pressing on your back enough to cause irritation to a lumbosacral problem like a disc lesion or spondulosis..
So I recommend doing abdominal USG..a back x ray and MRI respectively..

  2. hi
the back and leg pain that you have is a different issue from the abdominal pain. leg pains can be caused by pinched nerves in the back due to spondylitis or disc prolapse. an MRI will give a better idea. For the abdominal pain, appendicitis, renal stones etc are some of the causes. USG abdomen should be helpful

  3. HI
THE PAIN IS MORE LIKELY DUE TO SCIATICA. YOU MAY HAVE LIFTED SOMETHING HEAVY OR SPRAINED YOUR BACK DURING SOME ACTIVITY. TAKING ANALGESICS, METHYCOBAL TABLETS AND LOCAL GELS WILL BE HELPFUL.
    CONSULT A SPINE SPECIALIST

  4. hello there
this may be due to a strained and inflammed nerve in the leg or may be a disc prolapse causing pinched nerve. get a mri done and take analgesics for 5 days. stretching exercises should help.
if it doesnt improve, consult a orthopedic specialist
