I have Acoustic Nouroma Tumour, should I have full surgery or partial with radiation?

hi i`am a 31 year male that has been diagnosed with an Acoustic Nouroma Tumour which is 4 inches in size, that sits next to my brain stem 2 options for surgery 1) full removal with lots of risks 2) Middle of tumour removed with radiation but unsure how much radiation had when was a child with all cancer please advise on what choice I should make very unsure I have no records of how much radiation I have has in Sydney Children’s Hospital In 1989-1991.

    I would go with partial removal with radiation, complete removal will have very bad life effect regarding balance and hearing

  2. IN my opinion you should go with partial removal with radiation therapy as acoustic neuromas are mostly non cancerous,,so in all cases your brain stem sensitive structures will be saved with partial and radiation than with complete surgical removal

  3. hi,
    partial (almost complete) removal of the tumor followed by radiation therapy has been proven a very effective in such neuromas.
    However, meticulous dissection during surgery is recommended.
    Radiotherapy should be done till complete destruction of the tumor tissue is ensured.

  4. I would go for full surgical removal, 4 inches is a big size,
    However u need a neurosurgeon and neutologist consultation
