I have a mole on the back of my neck
I recently went to America for a month which is part of why I’m a little bit concerned, I have a mole on the back of my neck which I happened to rub as I had an itch on the back of my head which is quite close to the mole when I found that the mole feels dry/crusty to touch. I don’t remember that being the case before but I don’t check it often-out of sight it’s one you normally forget about. It is raised to the touch but that is normal for it. My mum had skin cancer it was a lump on her head .I am male and 24 years old.
Hi and welcome to question doctors .com
If it is the same size long time ago without change in size and texture there us no need to worry…
The recent problem that caused itching in your neck may be the cause of your increased awareness about it..
Keep it monitored then and observe any change in its size ..if so get a dermatologist consult..
Nothing to worry about as long as it is non painfull and does not change in size
If any changes occur you should consider the possibility of melanoma
It is unlikly before age of 25 , yet check it monthly
seems to be simple cyst that usually is harmless.
keep a watch on its color and size.
if these characteristics undergo sudden change, then it needs immediate medical attention.
ITS A DERMOID CYST.
IF IT GROWS BIGGER,GET IT REMOVED SURGICALLY.AT PRESENT,NO ACTIVE TREATMENT IS NECESSARY.
sebaceous or dermoid cyst is more likely. get a high resolution usg of the lesion or you can get it aspirated and send the material for histopathology and culture/sensitivity.
doesn’t seem to be malignant.
