I had my appendix removed about nine years ago, I’ve been having pains every since?
Hi my name is (…), I am 24 years old and I had my appendix removed about nine years ago. I’ve been having pains every since. In the past nine months the pains got worse. I’ve had many different scans with no results. I had a xray done of my spine and there are surgical clips in my lower right quadrant as stated on my results. Really just need some answers to why they would still be there and if I’m right about them causing all my pain over the years. What steps should I take next.
Hi and welcome to careproper.com
Most metals used in surgery are titanium which is used because it causes the least amount of allergic reactions per 100,000 patients, but it is still possible to be allergic to it. Also, many pins, clips and sutures labeled and marketed as titanium actually have small impurities metals such as nickel, which are more likely to cause allergic reaction.
Pain in the intestines increase with stretching so as you grow up clips gets stretched causing more pain
Also there is the possibility of autoimmune reaction or infection that is if you are having hot flushes or fever
Any way it was right not to remove the clip as it should not do any complications
as far as i know, the clips cannot be removed now.
the pain is definitely due to the clips.
clips cause foreign body reaction after some years.
try using anti histaminic tablets to reduce allergic reaction.
THIS CAN BE DUE TO THE PINS / STAPLES OR DUE TO IMPROPERLY PERFORMED SURGERY AT THAT TIME. CT ABDOMEN WITH A CONTRAST STUDY WILL THROW LIGHT ON THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE PAIN.
though surgical clips are visible on scans, these are usually inert and wont cause any problem. the pain may be due to stretching of the omentum and the soft tissue.
take antispasmodics when the pain is more.
