I had Mohs surgery, a bump formed on the site, please advise?

I have a dermatology question/concern.I had Moh’s surgery(all clear) on Jan 2 without stitches. On Jan 10 my surgeon said it was healing nicely. On Jan 22 a bump formed on the site. My question is: Is this the normal healing process without stitches? It is a bit worrisome. Surely the cancer couldn’t come back after only 20 days or could it. It stayed flat for the 6 weeks between the biopsy and surgery, and now there’s a bump after the all clear. Thanks

  1. No need to worry. Mohs surgery is 99% effective. A lump soon after surgery is probably due to either sutures in the process of dissolving or abnormal scarring – which can easily be resolved – or a blocked gland that creates a cyst. Most bumps are benign. In any case, your follow up appointment is the right thing to do.

  2. Hello. Mohs removes all of the cancer it would not have returned within 2 weeks. Your lump is probably a benign cyst. Thank you for your question.

  3. Hi..
Mohs surgery clears cancer completely so chances of recurrence are already very less.

Secondly its just a few weeks.

So the lump is definitely something not serious at all.

Chances can be scar tissue or a cyst..

So to clarify exactly what it is you should get it checked by your surgeon..
But it is nothing to be worried for..

    Hope this helps..

    Regards.
