I had a spider crawl in my ear, got out but I was left with an ear infection?

Hello my name is (…) and about two weeks ago I had a spider crawl in my ear. It finally got out but I was left with an ear infection. They gave me neomyosin polymyxin b with hydrocortisone eardrops. It said to take three drops in the left ear three times a day for 10 days. Me being stupid and busy with three jobs I was only able to take one to two drops about 1 to 2 times a day for 10 days. Now I’m done with the 10 days in my ear infection is back. What it be OK if I restart taking the antibiotics? The right way? My ear is hurting so bad

  1. Hi
My opinion redoing same treatment may be ineffective because you infection may have developed resistance , I recommend doing a bacterial culture first
    Good Luck

  2. Restart the regimen however in my opinion it was enough to start with analgesics but no problem to restart the regimen al, if pain persists consult ENT specialist

  3. It would help if you restart it but stick firmly to the dose and if no alleviation for 5 days your infection is resisting and you will need to take a stronger antibiotic after reevaluation .

  4. Hi..
Yes, you can restart the regimen and rather you should restart the antibiotics and pain relievers orally as well as ear drops for proper eradication of infection..

Also avoid picking the ears with ear buds and exposure to moisture like during swimming.

    Hope you get better soon..
