Hi I have a 15 year old son that has a lump in his armpit could this be lymphoma?
Hi I have a 15 year old son that has a lump in his armpit. He discovers it 3-4 weeks ago. I took him to the emergency room and they did an ultrasound and found 7 enlarged lymph nodes. He was prescribed antibiotics and finished them. The one lump is still there. He has ckd stage 3 and has one kidney. My question is could this be lymphoma?
Hi.
Thanks for the query..
If there were enlarged lymph nodes and all others resolved and just one is left then it can be most probably due to Infection..
Take him to the Physician again and get evaluated.
If needed another course of antibiotics will be advised and a biopsy will be done for confirmation..
Hope he gets well soon..
Regards .
You can also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lymph nodes and it will also help in regression of the node..
Is there any other symptoms like fever or pain, tenderness?
Did you mean that only one lump of 7 nodes are still there? If so then the lymph nodes has good response to antibiotics which could be a good sign..
Hi
Only way to know for sure is by taking an aspiration sample.
you mentioned non of staff infection symptoms, so it is Probably viral.
Lymphoma does not improve with antibiotics
Good Luck
hi,
lymphoma usually affects almost all the lymph nodes of the body as it is a generalised disease.
This may have been a bacterial local infection of lymph nodes or secondary to a recent chest infection.
Get a lymph node biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
thanks
Have he been examined for the other lymph nodes enlargement,?? Any liver or spleen enlargement?Any decrease in gaining weight or growth pattern?
The lymphnodes are painful or not??
Anyways after full evaluation and examination , if any strange findings, do him CXR
Was he having any recent infection, common cold, flu???
If yes , when and what was the symptoms??
